Guided Meditations

As a somatic, emotion-focused practice, we tend to favor mindfulness meditations, as most of our clients have a goal of improving their skills at interoception (noticing what’s happening inside the body), increase distress tolerance (the ability to stay present and actively witnessing difficult emotions and sensations), and/or improve their relationship with their body. However, transcendent meditations also have their place - in providing a controlled way to temporarily get some distance from our bodily sensations and present discomfort, to achieve a sense of safety when that’s not yet available in our body, or as a part of some spiritual practices. The key is to know what you’re hoping to gain from a meditation, and how to find the ones that will meet your needs. Your therapist at Align can help you with that.

Meditation is a powerful tool: for mindfulness - strengthening our ability to be with our present experience - and transcendence - to escape it.

Insight Timer offers a collection of over 100,000 guided meditations in a variety of styles and for many different goals.

On our page there, you will find a growing collection of recorded meditations by Align therapists meant to support the work you are doing in therapy, or just as our gift to you.

We also have created folders of curated meditations and other resources by other teachers that we love and recommend.

All of our meditations on Insight Timer are currently free, and we receive no monetary or other incentives for directing you to them. We simply think they are a great resource that may benefit you.
